C32.MUX
C32.MUX is a configurable CANbus MUX module for distributed I/O on mobile machinery. Its 28 I/O channels can be flexibly assigned to project requirements. An IP67 enclosure enables reliable sensor reading and actuator driving in exterior, dusty and wet field conditions; it connects to master ECUs over CAN in multiplex systems.

Technical Details
C32.MUX is a compact, field-durable distributed I/O module in the Avioni MUX product family. Instead of a fixed input/output ratio, its 28 channels can be configured as inputs or outputs according to project needs, providing flexibility across different machine architectures. IP67 protection allows mounting outside the cab, on booms, near the chassis or close to actuators.
Configurable I/O
C32.MUX can be configured per channel with the input and output types supported by the Avioni ECU platform. In addition to digital I/O, sensor interfaces such as analog voltage, current, frequency/RPM, resistance, encoder and duty cycle measurement, and actuator drive options such as PWM, ratiometric voltage and frequency output can be assigned as required. The 28-channel capacity suits local aggregation of sensors and valves on the machine, reducing cable runs to the master ECU.
IP67 Field Durability
C32.MUX stands out in the MUX family with IP67 protection. It targets reliable operation under dust, water spray and harsh weather. This makes it suitable for open-field mounting rather than enclosed cabs only — on crane booms, under platforms, on exterior bodywork and near wheel assemblies.
MUX Architecture and CANbus Communication
C32.MUX serves as a distributed I/O node in multiplex systems. It communicates over CANbus supporting CANopen and SAE J1939 with Avioni master ECUs such as C48, C72, C80 and C121. Multiple C32.MUX modules can be used on one machine to scale I/O capacity; wiring complexity is reduced and maintenance and fault finding become easier.
Safety and Reliability
Like all Avioni ECUs, C32.MUX uses a dual-microcontroller architecture for cross-checking of input and output behavior. Over-current protection, over-voltage protection, reverse polarity protection and an internal watchdog safety relay are provided as standard. Per-channel diagnostics and current feedback help detect conditions such as wire breaks, short circuits or faulty actuators at an early stage.
The unit is designed and tested to meet EN ISO 13849-1 at performance level PL/d. It carries CE marking and has been verified against the relevant standards under EMC Directive 2014/30/EU.
Javelin Suite Integration
C32.MUX is configured and commissioned with Avioni Javelin Suite engineering software. The following operations can be performed via Javelin Suite:
• Channel assignment (I/O type and mapping)
• Application software upload and updates (firmware)
• System calibration and functional testing
• Live CAN data monitoring and debugging
• Reading fault codes and diagnostic information
• Project file management and field configuration
With UCAN-USB or UCAN-BT adapters, Javelin Suite provides access in workshop and field environments.
Position in the MUX Family
C48.N16.MUX (16+16) is a mid-scale MUX module with fixed I/O ratio. C72.MUX (34+24) and C72.AERO (32+17) are high-channel master MUX ECUs. C32.MUX (28 configurable I/O, IP67) is positioned as a compact distributed module acting as a field-mounted remote I/O box alongside master ECUs. It is an ideal complement for in-cab centralized control combined with exterior distributed I/O.
Typical Applications
• Distributed limit switch aggregation on boom and chassis
• Exterior proportional valve and relay driving
• Local I/O module for platform and outrigger sensors
• Field mounting where IP67 is required in wet and dusty conditions
• Remote I/O expansion to master ECU in multiplex systems
• Prototype and series production commissioning
